Proper Storage of Wireless Payment Terminals is Necessary During the Winter Months

Winter has officially arrived! As the temperature drops, we want to remind merchants that storing wireless terminals like the PAX S90 in vehicles or other locations that drop below freezing can freeze the battery. This will corrupt downloaded files and results in a tampered device error.

Fidelity recommends that terminals not be kept in temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit for sustained periods of time, and they should never be allowed in temperatures below 36 degrees. Therefore, terminals should be stored indoors at all times and only transported in vehicles when the vehicle is heated and in use. Otherwise, you will run the risk of losing usage of a terminal due to an error code that requires a return authorization to clear.
